MEET SUNNY
The first handshake in our #FacesOfForefront series
a local leader in southeast india
We want to introduce you to someone that makes FOREFRONT possible.
Sunny is our partner in Tenali, India, where he was born and raised. He lives with his wife and young son, as well as his parents. From the start, he’s been a trusted teammate to us through his technical expertise, cultural sensitivity, and local network.
Each day, he walks the streets of Tenali to the hotel his family owns and manages. And for years, he’s dreamed of positive development among the people he knows and loves.
a community conductor
Our relationship with Sunny began four years ago when our founder, Matt, met and worked with him each year. They shared the same vision for a nonprofit, and FOREFRONT was born. The change he’s been dreaming of is becoming a reality.
Sunny has since galvanized different networks in his community to collaborate on FOREFRONT’s initiatives. He’s consulted and hired local well-builders for our water wells, appropriate for each community’s needs and water quality standards. He’s engaged dozens of community members and vetted Indian contractors, craftsmen, and businesses to ensure sensitivity to the communities in which we work. His collaboration with the Koduru community resulted in pipes extending to a nearby school.
Each project bears Sunny’s fingerprints, and most importantly, those of the partner community. As advocates of community-based change, FOREFRONT couldn’t do what we do without his expertise and network.
Group Title (Optional)
“Let’s not rest till we see a billion smiles.”
And Sunny can’t do it without you, either. Although many in his immediate community have benefited from his commitment to sustainability, his vision of a community goes beyond just his own. It’s one that draws inspiration from each other out of what we have and what we know to be good.
Regardless of who or where we are, clean water, education, and access to social justice are basic human rights. One community’s victory can multiply by pursuing positive, community-based change.
We hope meeting Sunny has brought a piece of that community to you.
