At our #StepsToSchool Gala in 2017, we revealed the exciting announcement that FOREFRONT'S second phase, Education, was finally coming to fruition. With support from our donors along with a $200,000 grant from the Dream Blue Foundation, we purchased land in Kolluru, India.
Kolluru, India is located in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

The Education phase marks the beginning of a new chapter in our continued journey to enable every person, equip leaders, and establish self-sustaining communities. Clean and reliable facilities along with an affordable, quality education will open up doors so that the next generation of young minds can do more than get by, but truly flourish. Although the school may simply represent 'an education' to the community right now, we are excited for it to grow into a center connecting students and families over shared experiences and introduce new innovations. Our team is truly grateful for all of the support and hard work that has gone into making FOREFRONT International School a reality. The school building will eventually resemble the picture below.
Kolluru’s overall literacy rate of 53.01% is well below India’s national average of 74.04%. The breakdown becomes further pronounced when analyzing literacy differences by gender. Less than half of the women in Kolluru are literate. The negative implications of this statistic are far-reaching, with unemployment, political participation, and precarious financial prospects being just the tip of the iceberg**.
Government regulation caps overall annual tuition to 35000 INR (approximately $517), however many schools charge over and above this cap by mandating ‘other fees’. Although a multitude of factors contribute to India's high drop-out rate, this added lack of financial stability can force children to forego school to begin working instead.
We will continue to provide updates on the school's construction progress, curriculum plans, and introduce you to the staff.
